# Fencing contractor software that keeps the measure, the permit and the crew on one job

> A fencing contractor is a licensed trade that measures, permits and installs fence line, and in California it holds its own classification, C-13. The state requires a $25,000 contractor bond on file before a licence is issued, reinstated or renewed, and only work under $1,000 that needs no building permit falls outside the licence law. Neurobird holds the measure, the material list, the permit and the crew day on one job record.

## What Neurobird Fencing Contractor does

- Turn a measured run into a material list without retyping it into a quote
- Hold the zoning or building permit for that address against the job it belongs to
- Track the locate ticket and its expiry against the dig date, not against a calendar reminder
- Schedule crews by day and show what was installed, with photographs, against the run

## How it works

1. **Measure once** Runs, corners, gates, grade changes and setback notes are captured on site and become the material list, so nobody rebuilds the take off in the office.
2. **Permit before you dig** The jurisdiction's fence rules and the permit for that address attach to the job, and the locate ticket carries its own expiry date.
3. **Install to the run** Each crew day closes against the run it worked, with photographs, so a change order is evidenced rather than argued about at the invoice.

## Questions

### What is a C-13 fencing contractor licence?

It is California's own classification for contractors who build fence line, gates and related barriers. Holding it means a $25,000 contractor bond stays on file, and work priced at $1,000 or more, or needing a building permit, has to be done under a licence.

### Do we still need a permit for a residential fence?

Usually yes, and it is normally a zoning permit rather than a building permit. Raleigh requires a zoning permit for any fence, and a commercial fence over 6 feet may need a building permit as well. Rules are local, which is why they belong on the job record.

### Does this replace our accounting software?

No. It sits beside it. The books handle invoices and payroll. This holds the measure, the material list, the permit, the locate ticket and the crew day, which is the part that decides whether the invoice is defensible.

### How does it handle the locate ticket?

The ticket and its expiry attach to the dig date, not to a reminder in someone's phone. If the dig slips past the expiry, the job says so before a crew is standing on it.
