## How it works

### What is concrete formwork?

### When can forms and shores be removed?

Not until the employer determines the concrete has gained sufficient strength to support its own weight and any superimposed loads. In practice that means a measured strength, usually cylinder breaks against a design strength such as 3,000 or 5,000 psi, not a day count on a calendar.

### What does OSHA require for formwork drawings?

Drawings or plans, including all revisions, for the jack layout, formwork, shoring, working decks and scaffolds must be available at the jobsite. The non mandatory appendix to Subpart Q points at Sections 6 and 7 of ANSI A10.9 as a way of meeting the design requirement.

### What is reshoring and why does it get missed?

Reshoring supports a slab after the original shores are struck, transferring load back into the structure while the concrete continues to gain strength. It gets missed because removal happens weeks after the pour, when the crew has moved 2 or 3 floors up and the paperwork has moved on.

### Does this replace our project management software?

No. Schedules, RFIs and submittals stay where they are. This holds the pour, its formwork design, its strength record and its stripping clearance, which is the part that is currently on a whiteboard.
