STRUCTURE REMOVAL

Demolition contractor software that ties the survey, the notification and the crew to one structure

A demolition contractor is the trade that takes structures down, and the work starts on paper. OSHA requires an engineering survey by a competent person before any employee begins, and the federal asbestos rule wants written notice at least 10 working days before stripping or demolition starts. The thresholds are 260 linear feet on pipes, 160 square feet on other components and 35 cubic feet where neither could be measured. Neurobird holds all of it per structure.

Neurobird Demolition Contractor in short

  • Hold the engineering survey and its findings against the structure, where the crew can actually read it
  • Track the asbestos survey quantities against the notification thresholds that decide what has to be filed
  • Run the 10 working day notification clock and record the revised start date when a job moves
  • 10 working days The minimum notice to the regulator before asbestos stripping or removal begins, or before demolition begins where the rule applies to the whole structure. 40 CFR 61.145
  • 260 linear feet The regulated asbestos containing material threshold on pipes, equal to 80 linear meters, above which the notification requirements apply. 40 CFR 61.145
  • Pricing runs 149 to 949 US dollars per month across 3 tiers. Early access is free.
The daily reality

What demolition contractors actually deal with

The engineering survey is a PDF in someone's email and the crew on site has never opened it.
A notification date slips and the demolition start moves with it, but the schedule does not.
The asbestos survey says one thing and the abatement invoice says another, and the file holds both.

Why it stays broken

A demolition job is an engineering document, an environmental notification, a permit and a crew week, and each is filed by a different person in a different place. Estimating software prices the job and stops. Nothing owns the structure as a record, so the file gets assembled afterwards, usually because an inspector asked for it.

40 CFR 61.145 requires written notice to the regulator at least 10 working days before asbestos stripping, removal or demolition begins.

To combat these, everyone at a demolition worksite must be fully aware of the hazards they may encounter and the safety precautions they must take to protect themselves and their employees.

What it does

Neurobird Demolition Contractor Document Automation Platform

One record per structure: the engineering survey, the asbestos survey, the notification and its date, the permit, the utility disconnections and every crew day worked against it.

  • 1Hold the engineering survey and its findings against the structure, where the crew can actually read it
  • 2Track the asbestos survey quantities against the notification thresholds that decide what has to be filed
  • 3Run the 10 working day notification clock and record the revised start date when a job moves
  • 4Close each crew day against the structure with photographs, quantities and the equipment on site

What changes with Neurobird Demolition Contractor?

The same work, read left to right: how it runs today, and how it runs once the record is in one place.

Who is this for?

The same structure, three different operations.

Residential wrecker

Houses and small commercial

Volume of small structures, each with its own notification and permit. You need the paperwork to move as fast as the machines do.

Industrial demolition

Plants and process structures

Long surveys, staged takedowns and heavy salvage. You need the engineering survey findings to reach the crew that acts on them.

Demolition with abatement

You abate as well as demolish

Abatement quantities and demolition scope are argued over later. You need the survey and the invoice to reconcile against the same numbers.

How does Neurobird Demolition Contractor work?

  1. Survey before anything

The engineering survey, who did it and what it found sit on the structure record from the day the job is won, not in an email thread.

  2. Measure the asbestos

Linear feet, square feet and cubic feet from the survey are held against the regulatory thresholds, so the notification decision is arithmetic rather than opinion.

  3. Work the clock

The notification date, the start date and any revised start date are the same object, so a slipped job produces a new notice rather than a gap.

What the rules say about demolition

The survey that has to happen first, the asbestos thresholds that trigger a notice, and the site rules that follow.

10 working days

The minimum notice to the regulator before asbestos stripping or removal begins, or before demolition begins where the rule applies to the whole structure.

40 CFR 61.145
260 linear feet

The regulated asbestos containing material threshold on pipes, equal to 80 linear meters, above which the notification requirements apply.

40 CFR 61.145
160 square feet

The matching threshold on other facility components, equal to 15 square meters, measured from the survey rather than estimated.

40 CFR 61.145
35 cubic feet

The volume threshold, one cubic meter, used where length or area could not be measured beforehand.

40 CFR 61.145
1926.850

The federal rule requiring an engineering survey by a competent person, covering framing, floors, walls and the possibility of unplanned collapse, before employees start.

29 CFR 1926.850
45 degrees

Any material chute at more than 45 degrees from horizontal must be entirely enclosed, with openings no more than 48 inches high and a guardrail about 42 inches above the dumping surface.

Key terms

What is an engineering survey in demolition?
It is the written assessment a competent person makes before any employee starts demolition work, covering the condition of the framing, floors and walls and the possibility of unplanned collapse. Adjacent structures where employees may be exposed have to be checked as well. It is required by 29 CFR 1926.850.

When does an asbestos notification become mandatory?

When regulated asbestos containing material reaches 260 linear feet on pipes, 160 square feet on other components, or 35 cubic feet where length and area could not be measured. Notice runs at least 10 working days before work begins, and many demolitions require notice whether or not asbestos is present.

Does this replace our estimating software?

No. It sits beside it. Estimating prices the job. This holds the structure as a record: the survey, the asbestos quantities, the notice and its date, the disconnections and every crew day worked against it.

What happens when a start date moves?

The notice is revised rather than forgotten. The rule expects a written notice of the new start date before stripping or removal begins, so the record keeps the original notice, the revision and the reason.
